Jakarta (Antara) - The General Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) and the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) have been working together to supervise vote recapitulation in nine provinces to minimize possible fraud. The Indonesian General Election Commission is currently recapitulating vote counts following the presidential election on July 9. Recapitulation will be done at subdistrict, district/city, provincial, and central levels, ahead of the official announcement of the election result on July 22. "The provinces that have been prioritized for monitoring include Papua, West Papua, Maluku, West Sumatra, North Sumatra, East Java, West Java, Banten, and Jakarta," Bawaslu member Nasrullah said here on Tuesday after a meeting between Bawaslu and Komnas HAM. Meanwhile, Komnas HAM chairman Hafid Abbas noted that with the cooperation of the general election commission in the monitoring process, it was hoped democracy in the country will be safe and the election results will be accepted well by all sides. "Indonesia is being watched by the international community with regard to the current democratic process as a country that has successfully managed democracy well. Hopefully, all sides will contribute well in the process," he said. In the framework of contributing to the recapitulation process, Komnas HAM had opened a post to receive complaints of alleged violation of human rights. "The post is like an emergency exit for the general public in case they are disappointed with the recapitulation process. Every day we receive at least 25 complaints," he said. The election was contested by two presidential candidates--Prabowo Subianto pairing with Hatta Rajasa and Joko Widodo with Jusuf Kalla as his running mate. Both the camps had declared victory over the election. However, eight survey institutes had declared that the Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla pair had won based on their quick vote counts. Meanwhile, four other institutes had declared their rival pair Prabowo Subianto and Hatta Rajasa as the winner. (*)
