Jakarta (Antara) - Some Indonesian musicians have declared their support for the presidential pair Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Jusuf Kalla (JK). They initiated a community called Revolution Harmony for Mental Revolution (Revolusi Harmoni untuk Revolusi Mental) here on Wednesday. "All the artists are volunteers in the community. Hopefully, this action will be appreciated, since we are afraid of being politicized," said Band Slank member Abdee Negara in his press conference with a number of musicians. The representative musicians who attended the event include Giring Nidji, Roy Jeconiah (member of Boomerang), composer Erwin Gutawa, the manager of Band Slank Bunda Iffet, all the members of Band Slank, member of God Bless band Ian Antono, Opie Andaresta, and members of Saint Loco band Joe. According to Abdee, the community began as a way for the musicians to gather to declare and affirm their views, but eventually, it was developed into a human-interest movement. "We see that there is hope for a better future for Indonesia, which could become a developed nation, as it should, through the Mental Revolution initiated by Jokowi-JK," noted Abdee. Abdee remarked that the community had donated a song titled "Salam Dua Jari," or "Two-Finger Greeting," as a form of support for the pairing of presidential and vice-presidential candidates Jokowi and JK.
