Jakarta (Antara) - Indonesia has been ranked 120th out of 189 countries in the world based upon the ease of doing business in the country. In its annual report, entitled "Doing Business 2014" and issued in Washington on Tuesday, the World Bank ranked Singapore and Hong Kong first and second, respectively, followed by New Zealand, the United States and Denmark, which are the same top rankings as last year. Indonesia is still listed behind other ASEAN member countries, such as Malaysia, which is ranked sixth, Thailand 18th, Brunei Darussalam 58th, Vietnam 99th and the Philippines 108th, though better than Cambodia, which is ranked 137th. The data was compiled based upon a survey of more than 10,000 professionals who have routinely helped manage or provide advice on legal affairs and regulations in a country. The ranking is made based upon various criteria, including the time and procedures needed to start a business, as well as the time needed to have electricity services turned on, to receive credit services and, also, the cost for exports and imports.
