Jakarta (Antara) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) must continue its effort to root out every act of corruption without favoritism, former TNI Chief Gen (ret) Endriartono Sutarto has said.
"Anyone who is proven to have engaged in corruption should undergo legal process and be given the sanction accordingly," the retired general said during a gathering with National Democrat (NasDem) Party cadres in Bekasi, West Java, on Sunday.
Endriartono also noted that the KPK should be independent and not be intervened by any power.
According to him, there have been attempts from certain parties to enervate the task and authority of the Corruption Eradication Commission.
"The people will support the KPK, and therefore the commission should be brave against the efforts to undermine it," said the chairman of KPK Analysis and Advocacy Team.
Endriartono said some politicians and regional heads from some political parties were proven to be involved in corruption case, and thus the KPK should process them without any favoritism. (*)
