Jayapura, Papua - Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) will be officially included in school curriculum in the city of Jayapura, Papua Province. "Some schools have already had HIV/AIDS in their curriculum," Robert J. Betaubun, the head of the city's education service , said here on Friday. Robert said currently education about HIV/AIDS is important especially for young people to make them aware of the damage caused by the disease to body immunity system . He said currently Jayapura has 75 trained HIV/ADIS teachers ready to receive assignment. The 75 teachers are also expected to share their knowledge to other school teachers that the city will have more teaching staff to be assigned to all schools in the city. The program is to prevent the spread or eliminate HIV/AIDS in the region, Robert said. Papua is one of the regions in the country having most cases of HIV/AIDS. (*)
