Bandung, W Java - National aerospace company PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) has completed the assembly of three Korean-made KT-1B aircraft, which will be submitted to the Indonesian Air Force, according to the manager of Business Integration of PTDI Aircraft Business Directorate, Slamet Kadan. "The three aircraft have been assembled since April 2012. Today, two other aircraft will be flown to Adi Sucipto Airport in Yogyakarta and then subsequently be handed over by the Korean side to the Indonesian Air Force," he said on the sidelines of the inauguration of Indonesia-Japan Joint Airborne Campaign Piser-L2 at a PTDI hangar in Bandung, West Java, on Wednesday. According to Slamet, the three assembled aircraft are part of the 15 aircraft ordered by the Indonesian Air Force from Korea. "The single-engined turbo propeller aircraft will be the Indonesian Air Force's acrobatic plane and training aircraft, which will be stationed at Adi Sucipto Airport in Yogyakarta," he stated. However, this is not the first time that such a plane has been assembled by PTDI. In 2008, the company had assembled five similar aircraft, which are currently being used by the Indonesian Air Force. "In late August 2012, there will be two more aircraft assembled in PTDI," Slamet noted. KT-1B is small aircraft, but it is bigger than the Maserati aircraft. "The plane is quite agile and can be maneuvered easily," Slamet said. The aircraft was assembled with the help of technicians from KT-1B company. (*)
