Palangka Raya (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka on Monday visited some places in Palangka Raya, the capital city of Central Kalimantan.
There, Gibran visited the Pasar Kahayan Market, the public elementary school SD Negeri 1 Langkai, and the new icon of the province, the Great Roundabout of Palangka Raya. During the visit, he was accompanied by Central Kalimantan Governor, Sugianto Sabran.
"He also visited the Pasar Kahayan Market and the public elementary school (SD Negeri 1 Langkai) to oversee the free nutritious lunch program's implementation. This free lunch program is extraordinary, as it triggers economic drivers," Sabran remarked.
The governor said his side is ready to support the Free Nutritious Meal program by the central government. He said the program has a positive impact on the regions, especially in terms of economic aspects.
Furthermore, Sabran informed VP Gibran of the development of the Great Roundabout and the open green space in the region.
"He (VP Gibran) asked about the development of the Great Roundabout and asked to maintain the development quality," he stated.
Meanwhile, the first agenda of the VP's working visit to the province was to attend and open the 7th National Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) of the Employees' Corps of the Republic of Indonesia (KORPRI) on Monday evening (November 3).
The MTQ is a national Quran Recitation Competition held since the 1940s. The first official national competition was organized in 1968 in Makassar, South Sulawesi.
The 7th National KORPRI MTQ in Central Kalimantan on November 3-10, was attended by around 1,700 KORPRI members from 89 groups. They comprised the provincial government, ministries, and government agency employees.
