Surabaya, E Java, (Antara) - The Indonesian Islamic University of Sunan Ampel in Surabaya, East Java Province, is hosting the International Conference on University-Community Engagement (ICON UCE) 2016 in Surabaya on August 2-5.
"The event aims at sharing experiences, practices, and success stories on the collaboration between the university and community from local to the global levels," Nabiela Nayli, the organizer of ICON UCE 2016, stated here on Tuesday (Aug 2).
According to Nayli, the international conference is supported by the Supporting Islamic Leadership for Development Project.
It is a cooperation project of the Indonesian and Canadian governments that focuses on strengthening leadership capacity at Islamic higher education institutions.

This biennial conference, which was first held in the Islamic University of Alaudin Makassar, is expected to expand the network and partnership to achieve more sustainable community development.
"The grand theme of the conference this year is 'Collaborative Creation Leads To Sustainable Change,'" Nayli revealed.
She explained that the participants had opportunities to take part in workshops and dialog and showcase their works in a poster exhibition.
The conference also features plenary sessions under several themes, including Opportunities and Challenges of University-community Engagement; the Innovative, Sustainable, and Applied Program of University-community Engagement; and Methods and Approaches to Strengthen University-community Engagement.(*)
