Makassar, S Sulawesi (Antara) - The student choir of the Makassar University, Pinisi Choir, has won two gold medals and came up as the over all champion of the International Choir Festival Grand Prix Thailand on July 20-24.
The university spokesperson, Ildha, here on Monday said the two medals were achieved for Folklore Category and Mix Category.
She explained Pinisi Choir won over ten choirs from Thailand, Malaysia, South Korea, and Slovakia.
The festival has three categories, namely Folklore, Spiritual-Gospel-Jazz, and Mix.
"The success in Thailand enhances the achievements reached by Pinisi Choir after winning a gold medal at the International Penabur Festival in Jakarta earlier," she explained.
Another choir from the university, Pitch Choir, also participated in the Bali International Choir Festival held in Denpasar on July 25-31, 2016.
The choir of 35 persons competed in Folklore category, singing Buginese songs entitled Sulo Mata (Eye's Torch), Warekkeng (Clench), and Sompa Raja (King's Dowry).(*)
