Surabaya, E Java (Antara) - Juanda Surabaya International Airport in Sidoarjo, East Java, has been ranked 10th best airport in the world, based upon an airport service quality (ASQ) survey performed by the Airport Council International (ACI). The survey was conducted by the Montreal-based council in the fourth quarter of 2014, the president director of state airport operator Angkasa Pura I, Tommy Soetomo, said here on Friday. In the category of airports handling 15 to 25 million passengers per year, ACI evaluated 31 airports worldwide, he said. Based on the result of the assessment, only two airports managed by PT Angkasa Pura I met the qualifications, he added. The two airports are I Gusti Ngurah RaiĀ International Airport in Bali and Juanda Surabaya International Airport in Sidoarjo, East Java, he noted. Soetomo said Sultan Aji Muhammad SuĀlaiman Sepinggan Airport in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, is ranked 16th best among 79 airports throughout the world in the category of airports handling 5 to 15 million passengers per year. The ranking is higher than those of San Antonio Airport in Texas in the United States, Penang Airport in Malaysia and Bengaluru Airport in India, he added. ASQ is the only global benchmarking program that measures the level of passenger satisfaction at airports. (*)
