Whirlwind Damages Hundreds of House in East Java

Ngawi, East Java (Antara) - Strong whirlwind damages at least 120 houses at three villages in Ngawi district, East Java, on Thursday evening, local Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) spokesman Eko Heru Tjahjono has said.
"The whirlwind swept through the villages of Geneng, Ngawi Kota, and Paron, and destroyed hundreds of houses, but luckily there were no casualties in the disaster," Tjahjono said here on Friday.
He explained that based on preliminary report, Geneng village bore the brunt of the whirlwind disaster with many houses heavily damaged.
"We are still taking data to find the exact number of houses being destroyed in the disaster," Tjahjono said, adding that the whirlwind lasted in a few minutes but with a considerable damage.(*)
