Jakarta (Antara) - The General Elections Commission (KPU) has not yet received any political parties who came to register their presidential and vice presidential candidates on the first day of registration on Sunday. "We have not received any political parties who came here to register their presidential and vice presidential candidates. They will possibly come on the last day of registration (on Tuesday)," KPU Commissioner Hadar Nafis Gumay said here on Sunday evening. Hadar said that the KPU actively had communications with liaison officers of the political parties to ask about the registration of their presidential and vice presidential candidates. "WE continue to communicate with the political parties' liaison officers so that we can arrange a schedule to avoid their simultaneous arrivals," he said. Based on information the KPU had received, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) and its coalition partners will register its presidential and vice presidential candidates on Tuesday, May 20. In the meantime, the Greater Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) and its alliance members previously planned to register its presidential and vice presidential hopefuls on Monday but later postponed it until Tuesday. The KPU opened a three-day registration time on Sunday and will close it on Tuesday. "We are ready if the political parties will come on the last day of the registration," he said. (*)
