Malaysia Arrests Two Indonesians During Music Festival in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur (Antara) - Malaysian police has arrested two Indonesian citizens and 27 other visitors, during the Future Music Festival Asia (FMFA) 2014 held in Kuala Lumpur, due to allegedly abuse and possession of methamphetamine.
Cheras Region's Police Head Mohan Singh Tara was quoted in the local media, on Monday that early on Sunday (March 16), the police had also arrested visitors from Malaysia (13), Sudan (3), Maldives (2), Singapore (3), and at least one from Pakistan, Australia, Zimbabwe, and Mauritius.
Previously, Malaysian police had cancelled the third day of festival following the death of six visitors who were suspected of drug overdoses at Bukit Jalil Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on early Saturday.
"Meanwhile, up to now, the number of victims hospitalized have increased to 14; all remain in stable condition," Singh Tara clarified.
The six dead victims were locals, Kamal Zekry Kamal Basha (22), Victor Wong E Hern (26), Sabreena Kamaruddin (21), M.Suresh (28), Syazana Sohaime (23), and Nor Faizza Mohd Wazir (27), according to New Straits Times.
The 14 people who were hospitalized were from Singapore, Malaysia, Myanmar, Iran, Taiwan, and yet another unidentified person.
Regarding the festival cancellation, Mohan Singh recognized the efforts of organizers to establish preventative health and safety measures at the event.
"Police worked closely with event organizers, security, Bukit Jalil Stadium and a number of other government agencies in the planning process. A high visibility police operation featuring over 100 police members was in place to work across the crowd in order to control drug detection activities," he commented. (*)
