Khofifah to Intensify Publicizing Her Gubernatorial Candidacy

Sidoarjo (Antara) - Khofifah Indar Parawansa, a gubernatorial candidate in East Java, said she will intensify the publicizing of her gubernatorial serial number 4 immediately, after she was allowed to run in the election. "After passing through various obstacles, our struggle to be a candidate in the East Java Gubernatorial Election has finally been accepted. We will increase publicizing the serial number," she said, after arriving at Juanda International Airport, Sidoarjo, East Java province on Saturday. According to Khofifah, she has been some fourteen days late in registering her serial number due to irregularities by election participants in the province. Khofifah, who was the former Indonesian Women Affairs Minister, will pair with Herman Surjadi Sumawiredja in this year's gubernatorial polls. Meanwhile, the central general election commission (KPU) certified the candidacy of Khofifah Indar Parawansa and Herman Suryadi Sumawiredja as gubernatorial and vice gubernatorial hopefuls in the upcoming election, after nullifying the decision of the East Java General Election Commission (KPUD). Earlier, the General Election Honorary Council (DKPP) accepted a lawsuit filed by Khofifah-Herman, who had been struck from the ballot by the East Java Election Commission as candidates for governor and vice governor, claiming they had less than 15 percent support from political parties.
