Jakarta (Antara) - A bomb disposal squad has been sent to defuse a suspected home-made bomb planted at the Rajapolah police precinct in West Java's Tasikmalaya district, early Saturday, a police spokesman said.
"Right now the scene is still being investigated and a bomb disposal squad has left for the scene to defuse the bomb," Head of the Public Relations Division at the National Police Headquarters Insp. Gen. Ronny F. Sompie said in a short message text to Antara on Saturday.
He quoted witnesses as saying two people riding a motorcycle planted an article believed to be a home-made bomb outside the office near the wall of the police precinct chief's working room.
"We thank God that the article did not explode. It only produced sound like sizzling fireworks and emitted smoke," he said.
He said a team of investigators from the Tasikmalaya police resort has questioned five witnesses consisting of two local residents and three on-duty police officers.
The identities of the two people planting the suspected bomb are still unknown, he said.
No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
"It neither claimed casualties nor caused damage to the police precinct," he said.
Police line has been put up in the scene for investigation purpose.(*)
