Jakarta (Antara) - Indonesia has been appointed to host the 30th conference of the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) in 2017. "The 2017 IAPH conference must serve as a momentum to show the world that our ports are getting more efficient," RJ Lino, president director of state port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) II, said in a press statement released on Thursday. Indonesia was appointed a host of the conference by more than 95 countries participating in the 28th IAPH conference held in Los Angeles, the United States, on Tuesday, he said. IAPH conference is a biennial meeting of port operators and experts who try to find a solution to a wide range of port-related issues. Earlier, Pelindo II which represented Indonesia at a tender for the host of the 30th IAPH conference presented a proposed venue and concept of the meeting on March 18, 2013 coinciding with Asia Oceania Regional Meeting in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Indonesia was appointed by the committee of Asia Oceania Regional Meeting to represent the Asian region at the tender. State port operators Pelindo I, II, III and IV have agreed to choose Nusa Dua, Bali, as a venue of the 30th IAPH conference, he said. (*)
