Jakarta (Antara) - Whirlwind hit the districts of Wonosobo and Demak in Central Java province on Tuesday, leaving about 300 houses damaged, National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB)'s official said. "Provisional data showed that 300 houses sustain serious and minor damages," the BNPB's public relations officer, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said here on Tuesday. The whirlwind which was followed by heavy rains hit villages of Dukuh Krajan and Banyumudal in Sapuran subdistrict at 13.30 pm on Tuesday, he said, adding that the whirlwind also cut off a road heading to a village. In Demak district, the whirlwind hit Pilangrejo village in Wonosalam subdistrict at 15.20 pm local time. Apart from that, landslide also occurred in Kendal district, he added. (*)
