Surabaya, E Java (Antara) - A cargo boat, MV Pulau Baru, caught fire at Kalimas Dock, Tanjung Perak Seaport, here on Friday, apparently due to short circuit in the boat's machine room. "We received a report that the fire started at around 9.45 am local time. But the fire was extinguished later and we begin the investigation now," Adjunct Commissioner Lily Djafar, a spokesman of the Tanjung Perak harbor's police office, said. The fire did not claim any live but partly damaged the boat, and caused a material loss worth tens of million rupiah. Indonesia's state seaport operator PT Pelino sent three fire trucks to put out the fire. "The fire brigade personnel came very fast and managed to put out the fire so it did not spread to other parts of the boat. It happened to be raining heavily at that time," Lily Djafar said. (*)
