Nunukan, East Kalimantan - The Protection and Assistant Center for Migrant Workers (BP3TKI) at Nunukan District, East Kalimantan, continues to monitor some evacuated Indonesian workers due to the conflict between Malaysian Security Forces and armed group from the Philippines in Sabah, Malaysia. "We still continue to monitor the recent condition of migrant workers by coordinating to Indonesian Representative in Sabah, particularly about the workers who have been briefly evacuated," said Chief of Nunukan BP3TKI M Sapri here on Monday. According to him, the representative office confirmed that there are at least 600 Indonesian Migrant Workers in Felda Sahabat 17 which have been briefly evacuated due to the raising tension after crossfire between Security forces and the armed group. He added the official in Sabah informed that Indonesian migrant workers were evacuated to Felda palm oil plantation that located at kilometer 6 at Felda Sahabat 17 area. "The latest information shows the condition has safe and the Indonesian migrant workers still conduct their job in Felda Plantation that located in Kilometer 6 area," Sapri said. He said the BP3TKI will conduct mitigation effort if they have received information from the Indonesian representative. The BP3TKI still coordinating to Indonesian representative in Sabah to get the latest update on the security and migrant workers conditions. "We are not conducting mitigation effort yet before Indonesian representative office inform us about the condition. Moreover, the security condition in Sabah is still conducive and the incidents (crossfire) did not disturbing their job," said Sapri. (*)
