Tens Injured in Bus Accident

Boyolali, C Java - A bus overturned at Kembangsari village in Central Java's district of Boyolali on Sunday, leaving tens of its passengers injured.
The bus carrying students of school of economics of Soegijapranata catholic university in Semarang overturned after it rammed into a fence, an eyewitness, Sumarno said.
It seemed the bus had a brake failure when it was running on the descending road at the village. The driver turned the wheel to the right and the bus overturned, he said.
"When the accident occurred at around 02.30 p.m. I heard something like an explosion. Knowing that a bus overturned local residents rushed outdoors to help the victims," he said.
According to one of the students, Sarivin, tens of students were injured in the bus accident. Thirty-four of the students were taken to Pandanaran general hospital in Boyolali, three to PKU Aisiah hospital, and four others to Umi Barokah hospital.
Head of the traffic unit at the Boyolali police resort, Adj. Comr. Sugino believed the bus's brake failed, forcing the driver to turn the wheel to the right and the bus hit the fence.
"The bus is not roadworthy. However, we still have to look into the cause of the accident," he said.
No one was killed in the accident. (*)
