Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto reinforced Indonesia's pledge to continue contributing to the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping missions, including in Palestine, should such deployment of forces become necessary.
"For the need of internationally mandated peacekeeping forces, we are ready to provide the forces," Prabowo stated during his meeting with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Sunday (November 17).
As observed from Prabowo Subianto's YouTube channel here on Monday, the president affirmed that Indonesia's support will be based on the nation's experience and study of developing situations.
He affirmed that the support will be consistent with the international mandate to strengthen UN peacekeeping missions wherever they are assigned.

Responding to Prabowo's remarks, Secretary General Guterres commended Indonesia's contribution to UN peacekeeping missions as exemplary to other nations seeking to help the global organization.
"Roles played by countries, such as Indonesia, showed that they have become an inspiring partner to realize justice, equality, and more capacity in the international system," Guterres stated.
Meanwhile, regarding the Palestinian issue, the UN secretary general concurred with Indonesia that the Palestinian people should have their right to self-determination and to establish their independent country.
"We also have strong cooperation with regard to conditions in the Middle East, and I believe those countries are fully committed to the absolute necessity for the realization of a Palestinian state and the self-determination for the Palestinian people," he stated.
Indonesian officials who also attended the meeting were Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Djiwandono, and Indonesian Ambassador for Brazil Edi Yusup.
President Prabowo arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on November 16 evening, and he will attend the G20 Summit in the city on November 18-19, 2024.
The president had been in Peru to attend the 2024 APEC Summit and its sideline agenda on November 15-16, 2024.
