Tuban, E Java, (Antara) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was scheduled to hand over 13 certificates of social forestry for Communal Forest's Farmers Group from some districts in East Java.
According to Presidential Office's schedule, President Jokowi will conduct a working visit to East Java Province on Friday, with one of agendas is to hand over 13 social forestry's certificates in Tuban District for a total 8,975.8 hectare land covering 9,143 households.
The 13 certificates will be given to two groups from Bojonegoro District for a 1,494.2 hectare land covering 1,342 households, three certificates to three groups from Blitar for a 1,399.6 hectare land covering 1,284 households, and eight certificates to farmers groups from Malang for a 6,092 hectare land covering 517 households.
Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya, who will accompany President Jokowi during the event, noted that Ngimbang Village in Tuban District was chosen for the ceremonial location for its successful implementation of teak tree and maize mixed-plant method that commonly used for social forestry management.
The mixed-plant method is combining two or more plant's varieties in order to yield a year-round harvest.

According to current data, the government had handed over social forestry certificates for 1.46 million hectare lands operated by 4,200 farmers groups covering 280,000 households.
President Jokowi and Minister Nurbaya will attend a maize harvest festival in Ngimbang Village and witness a thinning process for teak trees on Ngimbang's 7-8 hectare social forest.
During his working visit in East Java, President Jokowi is also scheduled to inaugurate operation of Java Integrated Industrial and Ports Estate (JIIPE) in Gresik District and visit Langitan Islamic Boarding School in Tuban.
