Bogor, W Java, (Antara) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received Afghan First Lady Rula Ghani at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Tuesday.

A number of officials, including Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Yohana Yembise, and Indonesian Ambassador to Afghanistan Arief Rachman, accompanied the president during a meeting with Ghani.
Ghani is visiting Indonesia to reciprocate the visit by Minister Yembise¿s to Afghanistan some time ago to address a symposium on women's empowerment.
The Afghan first lady stated that, during her stay in the country, she wished to do perform an in-depth study on the role of Indonesian women.
The other issues that she will study include the efforts made by the Indonesian government to eliminate discrimination and violence against women and prevention of conflicts.
Indonesia will soon invite five representatives from Afghanistan to learn about women's empowerment in the country under a short-term program.
"The Afghan government expects their women to function as mediators and peace makers in tackling internal and international issues as well as to serve as religious leaders and contribute to resolving conflicts," Yambise remarked during a meeting with Rula the day before.(*)
