Jakarta (Antara) - The House of Representatives (DPR) in a plenary session led by Deputy Speaker Fadli Zon here on Thursday approved Commissioner General Badrodin Haiti as the new national police chief. All DPR members at the meeting unanimously agreed to name Haiti as the country\'s new national police chief. At the meeting, the chairman of the House\'s Commission III, Aziz Syamsuddin, reported the process of the fit-and-proper test on the police chief candidate. He noted that the process began with the reading out of President Joko Widodo\'s letter on March 23, 2015, on Haiti\'s nomination as national police chief candidate at a House plenary session. Following Haiti\'s nomination, Aziz explained, the House Commission III conducted a hearing with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the Financial Transactions Analysis and Reporting Center. It also held a hearing with the National Police Commission on April 14, besides receiving inputs from the University of Indonesia\'s Students\' Council on April 15 and visiting Haiti\'s residence. He remarked that at the plenary session in April, there was a debate whether President Joko Widodo\'s earlier letter nominating Commissioner General Budi Gunawan as the sole candidate for police chief should be revoked or not before processing Haiti\'s candidacy. He pointed out that the faction chairman agreed that the DPR\'s leadership should first revoke the president\'s earlier letter. \"After that we conducted the fit-and-proper test on Commissioner General Badrodin Haiti from 10 A.M. to 12 noon on Thursday,\" he stated.
