Madiun, E Java (Antara) - Some six thousand houses were flooded in Madiun city, East Java, on Wednesday, following incessant heavy rains since Tuesday evening. "Some six thousand houses were inundated. We are still collecting data. Several schools were affected and forced to be temporarily closed, Head of the Madiun Disaster Mitigation Office (BPBD) Agus Subiyanto stated here, Wednesday. The floods hit four villages in Kartoharjo sub-district. The villages are Rejomulyo, Pilangbango, Kelun, and Tawangrejo. "The floodwaters in several areas ranged between half a meter to one meter in height," he remarked. The local authorities have distributed meals to the flood victims. (*)
