Jakarta (Antara) - The 2013 Curriculum is suitable for indigenous education in remote areas as it is contextual, stated Deputy Minister of Education and Culture Musliar Kasim.
"The curriculum is suitable for indigenous people because it is adjusted for all those who do not want a formal learning in school," Musliar stated here on Tuesday.
With the 2013 Curriculum in place, Musliar remarked that indigenous children did not need a formal learning in school, but they can directly imbibe knowledge by studying nature in the forest.
"Education Curriculum 2013 is based on a local theme. The indigenous people can instantly learn where they live, such as in the forest, and they can learn to count the leaves. It is more concrete and contextual," he noted.
He remarked that the most important aspect of education was access and quality. Access to education for indigenous people is possible through the 2013 Curriculum.
"The curriculum accommodates education in remote areas and in all regions and can even be used to educate children of migrant workers in Malaysia," he affirmed.
Moreover, Musliar noted that the learning system did not need to be equated with the city or other areas as it was adjusted to the conditions of each region.
"Facilities need not necessarily be the same as in Jakarta, such as props can be adjusted," he emphasized. (*)
