Surabaya, E Java (Antara) - The East Java Regional Police will deploy 3,000 personnel to secure the Surabaya Governor's inauguration on February 12. "We will secure the event. The Surabaya Resort Police personnel will be the main security officers. The Indonesian Military is also ready to assist us in securing the inauguration of Soekarwo and Saifullah Yusuf," said the Chief of East Java Regional Police Inspector General Unggung Cahyono here on Saturday. The Chief made his remarks after leading the Assembly of Mantab Brata Semeru 2014 Operation in E Java Police Headquarters. Unggung, along with the Military Regional Commander V of Brawijaya, Major General Ediwan Prabowo, said the preparation of the security efforts for the inauguration will be held on Sunday in the Regional House of Representatives Building. "In terms of the event, we suggest people maintain security. We hope the inauguration will run smoothly, especially as this will be the inauguration of an incumbent. However, we will remain vigilant," he said. East Java Governor Soekarwo completely has left security efforts to the police. "It is fully understood that this is a legal process because the election has been legally decided by the Constitutional Court," Soekarwo said. The governor said he will invite the former candidates for governor who participated in the elections of East Java in 2013, including his competitors, Khofifah Indar Parawansa-Herman Sumawiredja. "We have invited the former candidates, including Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Herman S Sumawiredja, Bambang Dwi Hartono, Said Abdullah, Eggi Sudjana and Muhammad Sihat," he said. However, Soekarwo has not received a response from the former candidates as to whether they would attend the inauguration. Previously, the issue of postponing the elections of E Java Governor arose due to the arrest of Constitutional Court Chairman Akil Mochtar, which revealed that the election should have been won by the Khofifah side. The statement of Akil made Khofifah's lawyer ask the Interior Minister to delay the inauguration of the Surabaya Governor until the Ethics Commission of the Constitutional Court and Corruption Eradication Commission passed judgment on the Akil Mochtar case.
