Jayapura, Papua (Antara) - An armed group shot at logistics vehicles carrying food supplies from PT Freeport Indonesia on Friday at 12:05 p.m. local time in an area 45 miles from Jayapura, Papua, according to Papua Regional Police. The Public Relations Head of Papuan Police Senior Commissioner Adjunct Pudjo Sulistyo announced that the vehicle convoy was returning from PT Freeport and was on its way to Timika. "The vehicles were shot from the left side by an unidentified armed group 45 miles from Jayapura," Pudjo said in an interview with Antara here on Friday. Pudjo stated that the first car was shot above the left tire, and the left door of the second vehicle also bore gun shots. Besides this, Pudjo added that the shooters had also damaged the left-hand side mirror of the vehicle. "Although the car body sustained bullet shots, the entourage safely reached Timika with no reported casualties," stated Pudjo. He said that on Friday, the police team had inspected the location and investigated the crime scene. On Thursday, at 12:23 p.m. local time, an armed group fired shots at the Military Commander's entourage on Tambang Street of Freeport, 42.5 miles from Jayapura. The group shot at the front of an Armor bus, numbered 140, and damaged the driver's cabin. The armed group shot at the right side of the bus that was boarded by the Military Commander, Amole Task Force Operation Chief, Timika, 42.5 miles from Jayapura. (*)
