BPK Reports 42 Findings to Law Enforcement Agencies

Jakarta (Antara) - The State Audit Board (BPK) reported to law enforcement agencies 42 findings of criminal offenses, which inflicted a statewide loss of Rp3.8 trillion in the first half of this year, BPK chief Hadi Poernomo said.
"The total losses amounted to Rp3.8 trillion," Hadi stated after a meeting with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at the Presidential Office here on Monday.
The result of the audit conducted by the BPK complemented previous findings. He noted that since the first half of 2009, the BPK has reported 425 findings to law-enforcement agencies, amounting to a total state loss of Rp40.522 trillion.
Of the 425 findings, 60 were transferred to the police, 200 to public prosecutors' offices, and 165 to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
He said 282, or 66.35 percent, of the findings have been followed up on by the relevant agencies, which include 40 cases handed over to investigators, 32 that are currently being investigated, and 22 cases that have been closed.
Of the 282 findings, 86 cases have received a verdict, while investigations on 14 cases had stopped, he added.
BPK chief Hadi Poernomo met President Yudhoyono to submit the results of the audit, accompanied by deputy chairman Hasan Bisri, along with members Moermahadi Soerja Djanegara, Sapto Amal Damandari, Agus Joko Pramono and Ali Masykur Musa.
The president was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto, and Minister/State Secretary Sudi Silalahi. (*)
