Payakumbuh, W Sumatra (Antara) - The West Sumatran provincial city of Payakumbuh will host a luncheon for some 100 foreign ambassadors in honor of World Food Day in Padang on Wednesday (Oct. 30), a local official said. "We will use this rare opportunity to promote the (economic) potential of Payakumbuh," Benny Warlis, secretary to the Payakumbuh municipal administration, noted here on Monday. Payakumbuh is less than one hour from Padang city, where the World Food Day event will be held. Payakumbuh Mayor Riza Falepi expressed hope that the visit of the foreign envoys will also have a positive impact on tourism and investment in the region. "Hopefully, Payakumbuh will see a good impact from these diplomatic visits," Riza stated. Meanwhile, head of the Payakumbuh chapter of the national handicraft council Henny Riza Falepi said her office will exhibit local food products at the luncheon.
