Jakarta (ANTARA) - National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, emphasized the importance of maintaining harmonious industrial relations between workers and companies to help spur economic growth and improve workers’ welfare.
He conveyed the message during the Gala Dinner of the General Assembly of the ASEAN Trade Union Council (ASEAN TUC) 2026 held in the Kuningan area, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (February 10) evening.
“Most importantly, we all share the same commitment to maintaining a harmonious industrial relations climate between workers and companies. With good business relations, we hope Indonesia’s economic growth can continue to increase, and ultimately workers’ welfare will be realized,” he said, according to an official statement.
In addition, the police chief expressed appreciation for the award presented to the National Police’s Manpower Desk. He noted that the recognition serves as motivation for the police to continue providing assistance in various industrial relations issues.
“This appreciation certainly motivates the Manpower Desk to continue assisting in various industrial relations problems, while also acting as a problem solver for existing issues,” he remarked.
Furthermore, during the event, the police chief congratulated the President of the Confederation of Indonesian Workers Unions (KSPSI) Andi Gani Nena Wea on his re-election as President of the ASEAN TUC.
Wea received full support from leaders of ASEAN labor union confederations and was elected by acclamation for the latest term.
“ASEAN TUC is a regional labor organization with around 20 million members, making it a very large and influential organization. This is certainly a source of pride for all of us, especially Indonesia, as Mr. Andi Gani has been elected for the third time,” he said.
Listyo added that the meeting was an important momentum to strengthen ties among labor representatives in the ASEAN region.
