London - A total of 17 Indonesian students in Switzerland performed the Balinese Kecak Dance in the country's International Day which took place in the Kastanienbaum hall in Luzern, Switzerland, an Indonesian embassy spokesman has said. The Tari Kecak performance was aimed at promoting the Indonesian culture and tourism in Switzerland, the first secretary of the Indonesian Embassy in Switzerland, Oktavia Maludin told Antara here on Wednesday. The visitors were very enthusiastic and amazed on the Kecak dance performance that has helped promote the Indonesian tourism, he said. According to a representative of the Indonesian students group in the Kastanienbam Luzern IMI hotel management association, Yanuarius Edwin Daryanto, the Kecak dance performance was very appropriate to be conducted in the international event in line with the students spirit to continue maintain the unitary spirit. The Kecak dance or fire dance constitutes a mass dance performance or entertainment. The dance was formed in 1930s by Balinese Wayan Limbak in cooperation with German painter Walter Spies. (*)
