Seoul - The Indonesian government urged North Korea to maintain a safe atmosphere in the region and not conduct any rocket launching tests of nuclear materials.
"We hope that North Korea can create a conducive climate in the Korean Peninsula, and maintain security in the region," said Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa here on Wednesday, in relation to North Korea's plan to launch a rocket in mid-April.
According to Marty, the summit did not specifically discuss nuclear issues in North Korea and Iran, but focused on the prevention of nuclear material possession by irresponsible parties, such as terrorists.
However, he said, the summit was interspersed with a number of bilateral meetings in several countries. The North Korean nuclear rocket launch could be discussed in those bilateral meetings.
"The rocket launching issue clearly did not create a momentum as we expected," he said.
The Nuclear Security Summit was attended by leaders from 53 countries and representatives of international organizations, such as the UN, IAEA and the European Union.
Interpol also attended the summit in Seoul with the approval of the participating countries and international organizations. (*)
