Jakarta, (Antara) - The National Development Planning Board (Bappenas) has proposed a Rp30 billion budget for study of plan to move capital city from Jakarta.
Head of Bappenas Bambang Brodjonegoro said the proposal to the House of Representative is included in the 2018 state budget plan in line with the presidential instruction.
The Rp30 billion fund would be used for comprehensive study from surveys to details of development financing, the Minister for National Development Planning said in a working meeting with the Commission XI of the Parliament here on Wednesday night.
Until now Bappenas is still studying the plan to move the capital city from Jakarta to a new location outside Java. The choice outside Java is on the availability of more suitable location.
Bambang, however, could not yet specify a certain area although Kalimantan has been often said to be the most possible choice . Land is relatively easily available in Kalimantan and it is safe away from earthquake fault line.(*)
