Lagos (Antara/Xinhua-OANA) - Speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives Aminu Tambuwal has condemned the two bomb blasts that occurred in the central city of Jos that claimed 46 persons and injured 45 others.
In a statement made available to Xinhua in Abuja on Tuesday, Tambuwal urged security agencies to redouble their efforts so as to fish out the perpetrators of the attacks.
Nigerian security agencies have confirmed the death of 46 people in the twin bomb blasts that hit the Terminus Market in Jos on Tuesday afternoon. Police Commissioner Chris Olakpe told reporters 45 people were injured.
He appealed to the public to provide security agencies with useful information that would help in their investigations and described the attacks as acts of cowardice that has no place in civilized societies.
The speaker urged Nigerians not to despair, adding that the current security challenges bedeviling the nation would soon be a thing of the past.(*)
