Depok, W Java (Antara) - The Indonesia University held a discussion on the Ukraine political conflict, in which several ambassadors from the concerned countries, such as the Russian Federation and the United States, participated. "We hope this rational discussion will give the public a clear view of the political conflict that is occurring in Ukraine," the Chairman for Regional Department on Humanities faculty of Indonesia University Irmayanti Meliono said here on Tuesday afternoon. A number of delegates were invited to be the keynote speakers, such as Russia Federation Ambassador Mikhail Galuzin and US Ambassador Robert O Blake Jr. In addition, the discussion also featured US Embassy Special Staff for Foreign Affairs Casey Mace and Russia Embassy Special Staff for Politics Oleg Kopylov. "We are grateful to the ambassadors for joining us here on the discussion to talk about several issues related to the conflict in Ukraine," Irmayanti added. The discussion went smoothly after some students asked about Russia's and western countries' interests in the political conflict in Ukraine. Russian Ambassador Galuzin said the incumbent Ukrainian government -- supported by the Western Countries -- had broken the Geneva Statement after violating the human rights of the minority group in eastern Ukraine. Galuzin said the western countries are not committed to end the conflict in Ukraine, but rather to hit Russia through several economic sanctions, such as freezing Russia's economic assets. "We have amassed our soldiers in Ukraine's border. However, we have already explained to our US counterpart that there is no significant military activity," Galuzin added. (*)
