Defense Minister Visits Spain to Review Defense Cooperation

London (Antara) - Indonesian Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro visited Sevilla in Spain, to review certain functions such as the production of a tall ship as substitute for Dewaruci ship and to roll out of Airbus C-295 aircraft.
The Minister visited Spain for two days, from February 5 to 6, in order to enhance defense cooperation between the two countries, as informed by Socio-Culture and Information Counselor of Indonesian Embassy in Madrid Theodorus Satrio Nugroho to Antara in London, Thursday.
Theodorus stated that Purnomo will meet with the Spain Defense Minister Pedro de Morenés y Álvarez de Eulate and also visit the Airbus Company in Sevilla.
The Minister will visit the companies to observe the development of the Airbus C-295 aircraft number six of Airbus Company.
According to Theodorus, Purnomo was briefed about the Eurofighter Typhoon jet fighter in the Airbus airport, Getafe.
The Minister will also visit Freire Shipyard to review the development of the training ship that will substitute Indonesian Ship, Dewaruci.
"The Minister will be briefed on the ship production in Navantia Shipyard," Theodorus added.
The Minister's visit to Spain is to follow up with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Defense cooperation that was signed on February 13, 2013.
The MoU, noted Theodorus, initiated since 2007, aimed to increase cooperation in science and technology sectors for military systems.
The MoU also noted collaboration on non-war military cooperation and aircraft industry development. (*)
