Police Nab Civil Servant on Meth Trafficking charges

Tabanan, Bali (Antara) - Police in Tabanan district, Bali province, have arrested a civil servant on charges of trafficking and consuming crystal meth.
The suspect, identified as Agus Eka Putra Abadi (33), was arrested at his rented house here on Wednesday at around 05.00 p.m. local time, chief of the Tabanan police resort Adj. Snr. Comr. Dekananto Eko Purwono said on Thursday.
"We arrested him while he was consuming meth, along with his 30-year old girl friend, identified by her initials as GAP," he said.
Dekananto said the suspect, who works as an ambulance driver at the Tabanan public health service post (puskesmas) III has long become a target of police raid.
"We are in the process of investigating the case in order to disclose the circulation of the contraband," he said.
The police also confiscated four packages of crystal meth weighing 0.1 gram, a small plastic bag used to wrap up the meth and four mobile phones, from the suspect, he said.
The suspect admitted that he bought the meth from someone for Rp550 thousand per package.
If found guilty, the suspect may be sentenced to up to four years in jail and fined a maximum of Rp800 million. (*)
