Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto witnessed the handover of Rp10.27 trillion (US$586.9 million) in administrative fines and recovered state funds from Attorney General S.T. Burhanuddin to Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa in Jakarta, Wednesday.
In his remarks, President Prabowo praised the Forest Area Enforcement (PKH) Task Force for the recovery of the state funds, which he said could be used for the the renovation of 5,000 community health centers (puskesmas).
“With Rp10 trillion, we can complete the development of around 5,000 puskesmas, as we have 10,000 puskesmas that need repairment,” President Prabowo noted.
He added that the recovered funds would also be used to improve public facilities such as schools, transportation, and healthcare services, particularly in remote regions.
According to Prabowo, the initiative aims to ensure that residents in remote areas can enjoy the same quality of public services as those living in urban centers.
“We are improving public facilities with money that, if not recovered, would have been lost to corruptors, thieves, and robbers,” he emphasized.
In addition to the administrative fines, Attorney General Burhanuddin — who also serves as the first deputy chair of the PKH Task Force steering committee — handed over 2,373,171.75 hectares of reclaimed national park land to Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni.
He also transferred the seventh phase of repossessed oil palm plantation land under the PKH Task Force program, covering the same area, to the Finance Ministry.
