Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto extended his greetings for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah, celebrated on the first of Shawwal, which the government set for Saturday, March 21, 2026.
According to the president, Eid al-Fitr is an opportunity to strengthen togetherness among the nation's citizens as one big family.
"My fellow citizens, all praise be to Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala who has brought us all together on this day of victory. On behalf of myself, my family, and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, I wish you a happy Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah," he stated, as quoted from an official broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat on Saturday.
"We apologize for our mistakes. Let us use this Eid al-Fitr moment to forgive one another, strengthen our ties, and bolster our unity as one nation amidst the various challenges we face," he continued.
The head of state invited all Indonesians, including Muslims across the country celebrating the holiday, to work together to build the nation.
"Let us continue to strengthen our togetherness as one big Indonesian family. Let us work harder to help each other and together build a fairer, more prosperous, and stronger Indonesia," he conveyed.
The president concluded his remarks with a prayer for the Indonesian people.
"May Allah accept our deeds of worship and continue to bestow His mercy and blessings upon the Indonesian nation," he said.
As part of the celebrations, President Prabowo, accompanied by several state officials, spent the night of Takbiran (the evening prayer before Eid) in Medan, North Sumatra. On Saturday morning, he departed for Aceh Tamiang, Aceh Province, to perform Eid prayers with the community.
Officials accompanying the president on his visit to North Sumatra and Aceh included Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, and Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono.
