Indonesia Sailors from Sunken Russian Ship Return Home

Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (Antara/RIA Novosti-0ANA) - Four Indonesian sailors rescued from a Russian fishing vessel, which sunk last month in the Sea of Japan, were discharged from a hospital and returned home, a Russian Foreign Ministry official said on Monday. Vladimir Nosov, the ministry¿s representative in Russia¿s Far East, said the sailors were discharged from the hospital last week and were supposed to head to Indonesia on Friday, but their flight was cancelled due to poor weather conditions. "As the weather improved the Indonesian sailors from the Chance-101 took off to Seoul and then to their motherland,¿ Nosov said. The Chance-101 fishing vessel had 30 crew members on board - 19 Russians and 11 Indonesians - when it sank in Japan¿s waters some 50 kilometers (31 miles) east of the Svetlaya village, in Russia's Primorye Territory, in late January. Two life rafts were later discovered near the sunken ship. The first raft carried six Russians and four Indonesians. Five more people, including the captain, were later rescued from the second raft. However, the captain later died on his way to a hospital. Eight Russian and seven Indonesian sailors from the Chance-101 are still listed as missing.(*)
