Soccer Teams from Malaysia, Brunei to Play in Aceh Tournament

Banda Aceh, Sumatra - The Aceh international soccer tournament organizer has invited teams from the Malaysian League and Brunei Darussalam to participate in an eight-day event starting December 15, the tournament spokesman said.
The foreign soccer teams which will take part in the soccer tournament are the Selangor FC, Kelantan FC (Malaysia) and the DPMM Brunaei Darussalam according to Ridwan Jamil, chairman of the event organising committee, here Friday.
In addition, the local teams which will join the tournament are the Semen Padang (West Sumatra), Makassar United (South Sulawesi) and the Aceh soccer team as the host.
Jamil said further that the tournament organizing committee provides cash prize namely rp100 million for the champion, rp75 million for the runner-up, rp50 million and rp25 million for the third and the fourth respectively.
Apart from that, the champion will also receive the Aceh gubernatorial trophy 2012, he said, adding the eight day tournament will take place at the Harapan Bangsa Lhoongraya stadium in Banda Aceh, capital of Aceh province.
"We also provide cash prize for the best player in the tournament," Jamil said without announcing its amount.
When asked about the financial sources of the tournament, Jamil said that the provincial administration provides around rp2.5 billion from its budget to perform the event. (*)
