Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Arifah Fauzi targets 300 large companies to set up Women Workers' Protection Centers (RP3) within the next two years.
"We hope that within the next two years, at least 300 large companies in Indonesia will establish RP3 in accordance with established standards," she said during the 97th Mother’s Day commemoration event in Jakarta on Monday.
On that occasion, Fauzi launched the RP3 initiative within her ministry. The establishment, according to her, is an implementation of the Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Minister's Regulation Number 1 of 2023 on Providing Women Workers' Protection Centers in the Workplace.
She stated that the goal of the RP3 program is to provide a sense of safety, comfort, and justice for women in the workplace.
"RP3 is not just a physical space; it is an advocacy platform that ensures women workers' rights are protected—ranging from menstrual leave and adequate lactation facilities to secure reporting mechanisms for sexual harassment that are free from quid pro quo practices," she expounded.
The presence of RP3 in the workplace is deemed vital, as many instances of workplace violence still go unreported.
RP3 services include the prevention of violence against women workers, grievance handling and follow-up, and support services.
Furthermore, the scope of violence addressed by RP3 includes physical, psychological, and sexual violence, as well as violations of maternity rights.
According to the 2024 National Women’s Life Experience Survey (SPHPN), 25.6 percent of working women have experienced physical or sexual violence, or both.
Data from the Online Information System for the Protection of Women and Children (SIMFONI PPA) also recorded 1,308 adult women who became victims of violence in the workplace between 2020 and 2024.
