Cairo (ANTARA) - Indonesian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Gatot Abdullah Mansyur broke the fast with Indonesian migrant workers (TKIs) who were mostly problematic domestic helpers, at the Indonesian embassy in Riyadh. "Some 151 problematic TKIs broke the fast with the ambassador and his staff members, and members of the association of wives of Indonesian civil servants (Dharma Wanita) in Riyadh," head of the information, social and cultural division of the Indonesian embassy Abdurrahman Sabran told ANTARA in Cairo Sunday. The TKIs ran away from their employers, and for the time being were given accommodation at the embassy's Transit House, and are undergoing the process of repatriation after obtaining their rights from their employers. The ambassador gave the problematic migrant workers a spirit and motivation. He told the TKIs at the Transit House they would soon be going home to Indonesia but had to be patient as the repatriation was still in a process. In the meantime, embassy manpower attache Mustafa Kamal reported that there are currently 151 problematic TKIs at the Transit House, and 77 of them were set to be repatriated. Sixteen TKIs are ill and being medically treated, and another was in deed for intensive care and already referred to a hospital for proper treatment, Mustafa said. Mustafa Kamal also said that protection and care for Indonesians/TKIs would be improved and promoted in the coming years. Abdurrahman Sabran described the fast-breaking occasion as full of brotherly sentiments and intimate feelings between the ambassador, staff and Dharma Wanita association in Riyadh, and the problematic TKIs. "They have bright faces although so far from home, and still could feel the warmness of fast breaking," Abdurrahman said.
