Surabaya mayor to speak of sustainable transportation at UN

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Surabaya Mayor Tri Rismaharini will speak of sustainable transportation along with several heads of state at the UN Climate Action Summit to be held at the UN Headquarters in New York on September 23-25, 2019.
"I has been invited by the UN to become a speaker," Risma said during the opening of journalistic photo exhibition themed "Spectacular" at the office of Antara news agency in Surabaya on Saturday.
Risma will speak of sustainable transportation on the first day of the UN Climate Action Summit on Sept 23 after Kenyan president and Turkish president.
On the second day of the summit on Sept 24, the Surabaya mayor will speak at the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) World and the World Economic Forum. Risma is president of UCLG for Asia and the Pacific.
"At the UCLG World and the World Economic Forum, I will speak of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals)," he said.
SDGs are global agenda aimed to continue the efforts to achieve Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) which have changed much the world for the better in the past 15 years.
"On the third day, I will still speak of SDGs. The forum will be somewhat tight on Sept 23 and 25 as heads of state will be present," he said.(*)
