Jakarta, (Antara) - Bali's Ngurah Rai airport has been reopened again but with only one runway being operated.
The head of public communication center of the ministry of transportation, JA Barata, said in a written statement received here on Sunday the airport was reopened based on Note to Airmen (Notam) Number C01424/15.
"Bali's International Ngurah Rai Airport was reopened again at 3.30pm today in a limited manner or with only one runway in operation," he said.
Barata said Blimbingsari airport in Banyuwangi, East Java, however is still closed based on Notam Number C0524/15.
"The closure of Belimbingsari airport in Banyuwangi has been extended until 16.00 hours today," he said.
Ngurah Rai airport in Bali was reopened at 12.00 hours on Saturday had to be closed again at 09.30 on Sunday after volcanic ash from Mount Raung spread across the airport.
"Notams will be continuously updated in line with the developments in connection with Mount Raung's activity," he said.
He said to anticipate change to other kinds transportation service the ministry of transportation has ordered operators to increase trains serving the Surabaya-Banyuwangi route and ferry service from Ketapang to Gilimanuk in Bali as well as Padang Bay to Lembar in Lombok.(*)
