Jakarta (Antara) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Monday proceeded with investigation into a bribery case in the import of leaded gasoline from Britain in 2004-2005. Two suspects have been named in the case including Director of PT Sugih Interjaya Willy Sebastian Liem and former processing director of the state oil company PT Pertamina Suroso Atmomartoyo. "Willy Sebastian Liem and Suroso Atmomartoyo are summoned as suspects," KPK spokesman Priharsa Nugraha said here on Monday. Willy was charged with bribing Suroso that Pertamina would import leaded gasoline from Britain. PT Sugih Interjaya is an Indonesian agent of Britain-based Innospect that supplied tetra ethyl lead (TEL), a gasoline feedstock. Willy is facing a maximum sentence of 5 years in jail with a fine of up to Rp250 million if found guilty. Suroso is facing a life sentence or 20 years in jail with a fine of up to Rp1 billion. A Southwark Crown court in Britain found the British company had bribed officials of the energy and mineral resources ministry and Pertamina to import TEL. The British court said from 2002 to 2006, Innospec paid US$11.7 million to its agent in Indonesia, PT Sugih Interjaya, which used the money to bribe the Indonesian officials. The British court punished an Innospec executive ,David Turner, with fine of 25,000 poundsterling. (*)
