Jakarta 21 (Antara) - Malaysian minister of domestic trade, cooperatives and consumerism, Dato Sri Hasan Malek, officially opened Malaysia-Indonesia Business Expo (MIBEX) 2014, here on Saturday.
"The opening of MIBEX 2014 is aimed at providing a platform for Malaysian businessmen to introduce and market their products and services to Indonesia," he said after visiting the expo scheduled from June 20 to 22 at the Jakarta Convention Center.
The event is expected to provide a big opportunity for Malaysian businessmen to meet with their Indonesian counterparts and also from other participating countries to jointly develop opportunities and their businesses.
The first MIBEX was introduced in 2012 recording 22 Malaysian franchises opening 429 outlets.
Among the companies that have already operated in Indonesia include Bangi Kopitiam, Old Town White Coffee and Genius Mind Academy.
The present international business cooperation promotion event saw participation of 25 Malaysian companies including franchises, multi-level marketing companies and small-and medium-businesses.
"Malaysia and Indonesia are two nations that have many similarities such as their languages, cultures and values to make cooperation between the two countries easy to develop," Hasan Malek said.
On challenges facing them, he hoped they could be overcome together, he said.
"So far we have not had problems. If there is a will there is a way. So, there is no challenge that cannot be overcome," he said. (*)
