Anggito Resigns as Hajj Affairs Director General: Agung

Cipanas, West Java (Antara) - Director General for Hajj Affairs Anggito Abimanyu has tendered his resignation as he might be implicated in a corruption case in the religious affairs ministry.
Coordinating Minister for the Public Welfare Agung Laksono said Abimanyu wanted to be focused on a legal case he might have to face.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) already named Religious Affairs Minister Suryadarma Ali a suspect in the corruption case .
Suryadarma was charged with abuse of power and embezzling fund belonging to hajj pilgrims, and KPK indicated that more officials of the ministry are also involved in the scandal.
Abimanyu was already questioned by KPK related to the case.
Agung, who is named ad interim religious affairs minister replacing Suryadarma, said he already reported Abimanyu tendering his resignation to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
Agung, who was named ad interim minister for religious affairs replacing Suryadarma, said he received report about Abimanyu tendering his resignation earlier in the day.
He said the president accepted Abimanyu's resignation .
He said among the reasons given by Abimanyu for tendering his resignation is that he might face legal case although it was not yet clear the charge against him. (*)
