Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto and his entourage departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base here on Monday for a working visit to Washington DC, the United States.
According to a statement from the Presidential Secretariat, President Prabowo is accompanied by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
The President is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump to discuss strengthening Indonesia-US relations and strategic cooperation across various sectors.
The visit forms part of Indonesia’s active diplomatic efforts to reinforce its national position amid evolving global geopolitical dynamics.
President Prabowo Subianto will visit the United States on February 19, 2026, to sign an agreement on reciprocal trade (ART) with President Trump and to attend the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace.
On Sunday, February 15, the President summoned several economic ministers to his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor, to discuss Indonesia’s strategic direction regarding economic negotiations.
Two key points were emphasized. First, the government must ensure that every position adopted in negotiations provides the greatest benefit to national interests.
Secondly, economic cooperation should not only be short term in nature but should also strengthen the foundation of national industry.
The President stressed that every economic policy must deliver concrete gains for Indonesia without delay.
According to Wijaya, the President expects every negotiation to help boost domestic industrial productivity while strengthening Indonesia’s position in the global industrial supply chain.
Every economic policy adopted by the government must deliver real benefits for Indonesia, he added.
